Leavenworth Oktoberfest and Fall ColorsExperience Tradition in a Unique Bavarian Town!
Oktoberfest in Leavenworth is the next best thing to being in Munich! Enjoy live music, German food, arts and crafts, Bavarian clothing sale, and activities for the whole family. Watch the Colors of Fall Change Before Your EyesOn the way to Leavenworth, you will experience incredible scenery as you travel along Hwy 2 through the hills of Stevens Pass and watch the colors of the fall come to life right before your eyes. Located along the Skykomish River, a drive along this road is fascinating and will come to an end at the lovely Bavarian village of Leavenworth. Upon arrival, you will have 7 hours at leisure to shop, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy a beer! Events and EntertainmentThe opening ceremonies begin with a parade as 12:00 pm when Leavenworth’s own Musikkapelle rides in a blue and white colorful band wagon, playing those old familiar and traditional Bavarian marches and polkas. Other villagers and visiting guests will be in colorful traditional Bavarian dirndls and lederhosen. Following the band is the Edelweiss Tanz Gruppe and the Bavarian style Bier Wagon, beautifully decorated with red and white carnations. There will be other horse drawn wagons and a carriage carrying Leavenworth’s mayor and city officials. The procession starts at Ski Hill Drive on Hwy 2 and goes down Front Street to the Festhalle, where the fun begins! At 1:00 pm, watch the Keg Tapping Ceremony, when Leavenworth's Mayor will tap the keg (a Bavarian custom). Musicians and entertainers will be performing in the Gazebo in the Park throughout the afternoon. Our own Musikkapelle Leavenworth will be joined by other musical groups from the US and Germany. Barring road conditions, you will arrive in time to see the Bavarian parade at 12:00 pm.
