Clipper Vacations Extraordinary Mom Contest Winners Announced

Mother’s Day essay contest inspired many to write about an extraordinary mom.

SEATTLE, WA - May 12, 2010 — Clipper Vacations announced, Friday May 7, 2010, the winners of the Extraordinary Mom Contest, just in time for Mother’s Day. Contestants were required to write an essay about why the mom they were nominating is extraordinary.

Clipper had planned on choosing only one essay as the winner, however after receiving more extraordinary essays than expected; they decided to select three additional moms as runner ups.

“We are very thankful for all the mothers, daughters, husbands, sons, and friends who nominated an Extraordinary Mom for our Mother’s Day contest. It was wonderful to read so many amazing stories,” said Darrell E. Bryan, President and CEO of Clipper Vacations.

The Grand Prize Extraordinary Mom winner is Irene Ortiz of Covington, Wash. nominated by her daughter Samantha Becker. Irene will receive two round trip tickets on the Victoria Clipper, continental champagne breakfast en route, two nights’ accommodation at the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria BC, dinner at Sky City Restaurant in the Seattle Space Needle, a $125 Gene Juarez gift certificate and a bottle of perfume. Samantha will also receive two round trip tickets on the Victoria Clipper for nominating her Extraordinary Mom.

The three additional winners, Karen Roland of Renton, Wash., nominated by her daughter Liz Roland, Francoise Musgrove of Seattle, Wash., nominated by her daughters Claudine and Kristen Musgrove, and Pam Yorath of Victoria BC, nominated by her husband Cliff Yorath, will receive two round trip tickets on the Victoria Clipper.
